About Us ·
We are a mixed choir
of all ages made up of some 50+ singers. We meet weekly on Wednesday
evenings from 8pm to 10pm at Batchley Community
Centre, Cherry Tree Walk, Redditch, Worcestershire. We perform two of our
own fundraising concerts a year, one in the Spring and one in the
Autumn. In addition we perform concerts throughout the year by
invitation from churches, village halls, charities, etc., who wish to raise
their own funds. We are also available to sing for after-dinner
entertainment and at weddings. We perform music of
many styles - show songs, opera choruses, spirituals, folk songs, traditional
songs, ballads, classic pop - so there is something to please everyone.
Concerts can be tailored to suit the audience. Our Musical Director
is David Wynne and our accompanist is Nicola Walker. If you love singing
and would like to come to one of our rehearsals with a view to joining our
choir, you will be made very welcome. If you would like to do this or
book us for an event, then please get in touch via our "Contact Us"
page. Support
for Local Charities Each year, at the AGM in May,
Arrow Vale Singers elect to support either a national or local charity by
giving a percentage of the profits raised by their two annual fund-raising
concerts in the spring and autumn. For the year 2011-2012 they will be
supporting Home-Start is
a voluntary organisation offering support, friendship and practical help to
families at home with young children. Home-Start recruits, supports and
prepares volunteers who are parents, grandparents or have parenting
experience to visit families who are under pressure. Home-Start supports families with twins, multiple
births or several pre-school children, lonely or isolated parents, families
where there is ill health or special needs, mums who have postnatal
depression, lone parents and families who are new to the area. The Health
Visitor often puts families in touch with Home-Start. The charity branch we
have chosen works in and around the Redditch area supporting vulnerable
families through mentoring and partnership schemes and one of our choir
members is a trustee. Visit their website for further information: http://www.home-start.org.uk/homepage In previous years
the choir has supported the Air Ambulance Service and the Stroke
Association. |
