In addition to our own fundraising concerts we have been privilaged to be invited to perform at several events in Redditch and the surrounding areas including; Choirs at the Palace, St Laurence Church fundraising concert, The Redditch Dance and Music festival, Carols by Candle Light at Singletons Nursery and the annual Switching on of Webheath's Christmas Tree Lights to name but a few.
Music Director - Jack Brookes (BMus)
We are ably marshelled by our talented Music Director Jack Brookes (BMus). A Conservtoire alumnus he graduated in 2017 with the principle instrument of the Harpsichord. As well as being the MD for Arrow Vale Singers, Jack is also the founder and Director of Roco Revival Early Music Ensemble: a Chamber music ensemble specialising in Early music and currently in residence at St Paul's in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
Early in his career Jack was the Assistant Music Director for Icknield Male Voice Choir and involved as a pianist with the St Chad's Outreach Programmes and St Chad's Junior Choir.
Jack is also an accomplished singer who has performed in a variety of prestigious events including with St Chad's Cathedral Choir in their BBC aired Easter Mass performance in St Peter's Basilica. We are very pleased that he often agrees to perform solo's at our own concerts.
Additionally, Jack is an accomplished composer, who is currently embarking on a promising career within Video Game and Film score and it is a privilage to say that we have performed a handful of his compositions during his tenure as our MD.
Accompanist - Chris Walk
Our talented accompanist, Chris Walk, is an accomplished pianist and organist who learned to play at the Birmingham Oratory from 11 years of age. When asked some notable highlights of Chris's music career have been recorded by the BBC, toured France and performed; in the Vatican for Pope Paul VI, concerts at St Peter's and the Oratory in Rome as well as an improtu performance in the Vatican Catacombs.
Chris also plays the Banjelele and bass guitar and in his youth could be found performing with local bands covering a variety of styles including rock, pop, blues, soul, coutry and Irish music. Of late Chris has been involved in accompanying the Birmingham Icknield Male Voice Choir who regualrly perform at Symphon Hall, Birminham Town Hall and Worcester Cathedal. Additionally, Chris is a guest accompanist for the Half Circle Singers (based in Streetly). Chris also finds time to be a regular church organist, having played at his local parish church for over 40 years now.
As with most groups and organisations Arrow Vale Singers is run by a Committee. At present we have four members each with different backgrounds and skill. The Committee is elected at the AGM each year and serves their role for 1 year, officially standing down just prior to the AGM.
