"...what a good time we had (my wife and I), when we went... to see the Arrow Vale singers."
Originally formed from the West Mercia Police Choir in 1976, Arrow Vale Singers is a long running community choir based in Redditch (Worcestershire).
With a catalogue of music nearing 300 pieces and spanning multiple genres of music there is something for everyone in the programme including; traditional choral pieces, classical, Opera and Operetta, Musical Theatre, Pop, Film Scores, Jazz, spiritual and folk music.
In addition to our own fundraising concerts we have been privileged to be invited to perform at several events in Redditch and the surrounding areas including; Choirs at the Palace, St Laurence Church fundraising concert, The Redditch Dance and Music fesitival, Carols by Candle Light at Singletons Nursery and the annual Switching on of Webheath's Christmas Tree Lights to name but a few.
"Songs from the shows worked really well, ably marshalled by M.D. Jack Brookes. The use of light and dark helped to make the singers sound so powerful."
Arrow Vale Signers are "ably marshalled" by our talented Music Director Jack Brookes (BMus). A Conservatoire alumnus he graduated in 2017 with the principal instrument of the Harpsichord. As well as being the MD for Arrow Vale Singers, Jack is also the founder and Director of Rococo Revival Early Music Ensemble: a Chamber music ensemble specialising in Early music and currently in residence at St Paul's in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
Early in his career Jack was the Assistant Music Director for Icknield Male Voice Choir and involved as a pianist with St Chad's Outreach Programmes and St Chad's Junior Choir.
Jack is also an accomplished singer who has performed in a variety of prestigious events including a BBC aired Easter Mass Choral performance in St Peter's Basilica.
Arrow Vale Singers are very pleased that he often performs solos at concerts.
Additionally, Jack is embarking on a promising career within Video Game and Film score and Arrow Vale Singers are proud to say that they have performed a handful of his compositions during his tenure as MD.
"The highlight for me was a wonderful rendition of the song Memories from Cats... With great accompaniment from Chris Walk..."
Arrow Vale Singers' accompanist, Chris Walk, is an accomplished pianist and organist who studied at the Birmingham Oratory.
To include everything Chris has achieved during his long career would require a website of its own. However, some notable highlights include; being recorded by the BBC, touring France and performing; in the Vatican for Pope Paul VI, concerts at St Peter's and the Oratory in Rome as well as an impromptu performance in the Vatican Catacombs.
Chris also plays the Banjelele and Bass Guitar and in his youth could be found performing with local bands covering a variety of styles including rock, pop, blues, soul, country and Irish music. Of late Chris has been involved in accompanying the Birmingham Icknield Male Voice Choir who regularly perform at Symphony Hall, Birmingham Town Hall and Worcester Cathedral. Additionally, Chris is often a guest accompanist for the Half Circle Singers (based in Streetly). Chris also finds time to be a regular Church Organist, having played at his local parish church for over 40 years now.
"Thanks, well done and congratulations to Arrow Vale singers.”
